St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists so that everyone has a place to call home.
Our mission
St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists to ensure that everyone has a place to call home. Our vision is for everyone to have a safe place to call home and the support they need to keep it.
Who we help
Our work is focused on three key areas. We help individuals directly into new accommodation through the provision of grants, we support and champion frontline workers and capture and share learning based on their insight and experiences and we test, develop and share solutions to key issues and build support for them with the public and policy makers.
- We help individuals directly out of homelessness, by covering costs to help them access and sustain homes.: We provide emergency grants to help with immediate housing costs, such as rent in advance.
- Key to helping people out of homelessness is the support of a trained and experienced frontline worker. We support, train and champion the role, value and wellbeing of frontline workers. We enable them to develop their skills and knowledge. And we offer opportunities for them to come together nationally and locally for support, solidarity and to share best practice.
- We invest in solutions to homelessness. In 2024-25, we invested in 12 projects across the UK, supporting, developing and testing solutions to homelessness.
Our impact
It’s deeply concerning that so many people in the UK are experiencing homelessness. Safe, affordable housing should be accessible to everyone, and everyone deserves a place to call home. With your support we can work to achieve that reality.
- In 2024/25, we awarded just over £2 million in emergency grants, helping a total of 7660 people away from homelessness.
- Through investing in the Connection at St Martin’s work to support rough sleepers in the centre of London, we have helped 99 people into new homes and 67 people to keep their homes.
- We have also invested in solutions to homelessness across the UK, including mental-health initiatives and specialist housing services.
- Through training and resources, we’ve helped 849 frontline workers gain new skills and network with peers across the UK.
Why we do it
People experiencing or at risk of homelessness are some of the most marginalised in society. Not having a safe and stable home can make it harder to find a job, stay healthy, and maintain relationships. Homelessness – especially rough sleeping – causes significantly poorer health outcomes than in the rest of the population.
Homelessness is a systemic failure, not a personal one. That so many people are experiencing homelessness in the UK is unacceptable. Safe, affordable housing should be a right, not a privilege.
St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity is a homelessness charity that works UK-wide and year-round. Our vision is for everyone to have a safe place to call home and the support they need to keep it. Our work extends across all four nations – at the individual, community, regional, and national levels.
