When Revd Dick Shepard became Vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields in 1914, he transformed the Church into the “church of the ever-open door”, welcoming people in need of refuge, friendship or practical support. His vision was for St Martin’s to be a home for those with nowhere else to turn.
Homelessness at St Martin's
That vision continues today through the work of The Connection at St Martin’s and St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity – two organisations born from the same vision.
The Connection works directly with people who are sleeping rough in Westminster, seeing more than 100 people a day, and helping them move away from homelessness and rebuild their lives.
St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity works towards a future where everyone has a safe place to call home. Across the UK, we provide emergency grants, champion the voices of frontline workers and invest in solutions to homelessness.
Support us
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. But for too many people, that isn’t a reality. Together, St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity and The Connection are working to change that.
Together we support people who are rough sleeping in Westminster and give emergency grants to help people experiencing homelessness to find a safe place to call home and the support they need to keep it.
Please note: Your donation will be split between The Connection and St Martins-in-the-Fields Charity. If you choose to provide your contact details when making a donation, both charities involved in this partnership may contact you regarding your donation.
Your donation can help us reach more people experiencing homelessness and make a lasting difference to their lives.
